History of Endicott
Endicott NY is part of the Greater Binghamton Area. It is located within the Town of Union which also encompasses Endwell and Johnson City and is named after Henry Endicott who was a founding member of the Endicott Johnson Corporation. Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory became the largest shoe company in the world by World War 1. Endicott flourished due to massive number of immigrants who came to work at IBM. Endicott is also well known as the "Birthplace of IBM" which was founded in 1911. From the 1920's IBM was known for manufacturing, research and development. Enjoie Golf course is one of more than 20 golf courses in the area and is home to the PGA tour Dick's Open. The Cider Mill Playhouse is one of the most successful nonprofit theater groups and is famous for its fresh cider and homemade donuts during the fall months.
